Welcome to our new website!
Hello everyone!
Welcome to Midwest Heart Connection’s new website! Have a look around, check out some of our past Hearts of Hope videos, read more about us, sign up for some fantastic new features and even our new Family Matching Program! We’ve also added some new events for the month of April, browse the events section for more details on our upcoming events.
Be sure to check out the ‘Make the Connection’ category from the menu, here you will find new ways to make the connection with each other.
Some highlights of our new site include:
- Our website is now completely mobile – check it our from your smartphone or tablet!
- Sign up to receive emails when we add something new to our website
- View all of our past videos directly from our gallery
- Sign up for our email subscription service. This will enable you to connect directly with other subscribers via email to discuss issues and topics relating to CHD
We’ll be adding pictures, announcing new events and launching new programs directly from our website. Stay tuned, connect and come back often to see what’s new! Be sure to become a member for free or update your membership information if you haven’t done so in a while. We’ll be using some of the information you share to make the connection with everyone directly on our site.

NPC-QIC Learning Session travel scholarships for parents of HLHS children
Midwest Heart Connection is pleased to announce we are now accepting applications for four (4) $500 travel scholarships to parents of children with HLHS who want to attend the NPC-QIC Fall 2013 Learning Session in Cincinnati, OH on September 27-28, 2013.
The NPC-QIC (National Pediatric Cardiology-Quality Improvement Collaborative) is a nationwide collaborative of more than 40 different hospitals, all with a common focus to plan and implement a quality improvement project intended to improve survival and quality of life of infants with HLHS during the “interstage” period between discharge from Stage 1 Norwood and admission for Stage 2 bidirectional Glenn.
An integral part of this project is inviting parents to collaborate, provide feedback and be involved in this innovative quality improvement project. You can read more about the NPC-QIC here.
The funds are intended to offset the costs associated with travel to and from and lodging while in Cincinnati.
We are accepting applications through June 30th and scholarship winners will be notified by July 15, 2013
10th Annual Hearts of Hope Gala – September 28th!
The 10th Annual Hearts of Hope Banquet is coming up Saturday, September 28th at the Hilton Omaha – if you would like to volunteer to help plan the event or help us out the night of the event, please email our Hearts of Hope Chairs at 2013heartsofhope@gmail.com
MHC Family Matching
Midwest Heart Connection is proud to announce Family Matching! Our family matching will help new members and families facing a diagnosis of congenital heart disease connect with others who have been there and want to share the experiences to help new families.
We will try to match families based on similar CHD diagnosis and/or geographic location. Although we will strive to match all families interested it may not be possible to match everyone who expresses interest. To get started, become a MHC member for free or update your membership information so we have your most current contact details, then head over to our ‘Make the Connection’ menu above and signup for family matching!
